4 elements doodle

“In classical thought, the four elements earth, water, air, and fire as proposed by Empedocles frequently occur; Aristotle added a fifth element, aether; it has been called akasha in India and quintessence in Europe.”

These 4 elements have affected our culture today, notable examples being the zodiac (Fire, Earth, Air and Water signs), the Avatar franchise (The last Airbender and The Legend of Korra).

What these elements mean to me:

FIRE

The blazing fire is a symbol of all that shines brightly, like a candle illuminating the darkness for all to see. Fire is quintessential for progress, but eventually it will need fuel to keep it going; which is why fire types are best kept going with someone that can help see them through to the end.

AIR

Breezy and easygoing, a fresh gust of wind clear out the stale atmosphere, and make room for a new beginning. With the winds of change (puns :D) come great advances, and new ideas, but without anyone to ground them, an air type can easily drift from idea to idea, never truly succeeding or committing to anything.

WATER

Making up 70% of our body, water is quintessential for life. Fluid and able to adopt the shape of any container, water can run deep with wonders, or straight up drown you. Being that fluid is great as one can adapt to any situation , but it comes at a price as water without a container or direction to flow in does nothing.

EARTH

Solid, grounded, and well, down to earth (pun intended :D). The earth does not get enough due credit with anything brilliant, despite the fact that a grounded constitution is by far the best kind. Best paired with dreamers and visionaries to keep them on solid foundation.

Honestly, in my opinion we all have dominant traits of certain types, but we always have one or more sub-traits. Mine would be predominantly a fire type, but with a bit of air as well, although I do aspire to be more grounded in the future. What do you think about the classical elements? What type do you think you are? Let me know in the comments below, and have a nice day.
