Are there wasted & pointless words and messages everywhere?

This is something that I noticed recently; although I think I have been aware of it subconsciously for some time.

There are messages everywhere that are just plain pointless.

There is a hell of a lot of them and once you have tuned in to one, they become very easy to spot.

They are generally speaking to the already converted.

Those that the message is actually targeting will never see it.

Or will never read it

Or will read it and take no notice.

The one that made this ‘click’ for me was very recently on a trip to the seaside.

There was clearly a ‘campaign’ that was trying to promote keeping the beach clean & to take home your rubbish.

Seems normal.

Messages like this are everywhere & not just on beaches.

But I would argue it is utterly pointless.

You are either the sort of person who will put rubbish in a bin or take it home. Doing the right thing.

Or you don’t.

And will just toss the rubbish on the floor and leave it.

I would say that not one person in the latter category has even seen a little poster on a bin or on a building or on some packaging & thought –  “Oh Yeah, I’d better put that in the bin”.

Not one.

So what is the point?

Education & parenting is where this behaviour is taught & no amount of council-sponsored or volunteer group posters will make any difference.

Keep an eye out.

These utterly wasted words & messages are literally everywhere.  They are spread across hundreds of opinions, causes & behaviours.

Litter, for me, is where the penny dropped*.

Cheers!
